My name is "Sherpa" John Lacroix and I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire. I am currently a student at The University of New Hampshire working towards a Bachelors in Kinesiology: Athletic Training.
Before Ultra-running I was just a hiker here in New Hampshire, passionate about "peak-bagging" New Hampshire's Four-Thousand foot mountains. In 2004, I completed by 12 year journey to summit all 48 peaks and created a documentary film doing it.
"48: A White Mountain Documentary" is a first of its kind documentary film. "The list" of 48, as it is known, was created in 1957 by devoted hikers to describe peaks in the White Mountains that rise at least 4,000 feet above sea level and rise at least 200 feet from their "col," or low point, to the col of their highest neighbors. I sold over 800 DVD copies of my film to raise money for the American Diabetes Association Research Fund. For that fund I raised over $17,000 from 2005-2007.
I continued peak-bagging by completing the list of 48 in winter and continue on my journey to challenge the 48 Speed Record of 3 Days 15 Hours and 51 Minutes. This is how I became an Ultra-Runner.
