"Peak" & "Boo" (especially to you marathonmaniac539). Believe it or not, this is my first Blog entry of this lifetime! I am completely new to the whole "Blog" thing, but, figured NOW, in this environment, with these Dynamic members, Today would be a good day to learn to "Blog". Today was also my first real day back to the training life after nursing an ankle injury. I have a lot to accomplish, as I am "Planning" on running a 12 hour endurance race in Indiana, June 14, 2008 (wish me luck...) An interesting first day Back it was.....
My "Innagural" Blog:
I hit the bike this afternoon on the trainer (After work, of course...gotta keep that "Balance"). Figured since it wasn't too hot yet (85 degrees and 65% Humidity) I would move the trainer outside to enjoy a little differrent routine and catch a few rays while doing so.(BAD Idea...I am FRIED!) Overall, a "good" workout. Worked extensively on shifting my leg power and on my upstroke. Alternating in and out of my aerobar position & keeping a steady stroke count. A bit of a funny (funny, unless you are me!) story during my bike workout. My wife came back form a school field trip with my son(Bryce-Kindergarten) & enterred the back yard where I was stationed on my bike. After taking a double look at me, & with a smile (smurk) she says..."when did you get a "tandem" bike with double handlebars? I looked up, stunned obviously, & said "what do you mean"?She could hardly keep a straight face & replies: "Oh, those aren't handlebars, those are your "Texas LOVE handles, I am sorry".....Real funny. I gues, until I am "back" all the way, I will do myself (and ALL of the neighbors with 2 story houses a favor and bike with a shirt on...". To make matters worse, my son, who is in kindergarten walks around the yard & me on my bike, and I hear him say to my wife: "daddy's bottom looks like a large Ham". Anyway, NOW I am not only working out again (steady & heavily), but, it appears NOW would be a great time to start a "NON-TEXAS" Diet!
Enough stories (Thank God). I biked for 1 hour & 45 minutes. Felt pretty good. (6 on a 10 scale) Took the cletes off, put the running shoes on and headed off for an "easy" run. I ran for 53 minutes. Mostly working on my form (since it has been a little while since I could actually run pain free and transfer weight appropriately). Rating of run: 4 on a 10 scale.
After hitting the showers, I prepared the grill and the chicken breasts, played a little golf with my son, tried to monitor (as best I could) my oldest (Jordan-10) text messaging, & for some crazy reason, my middle child (go figure...) cam home with a "stray" dog and thought she would keep it hostage in the back yard. After a "brief" conversation, I convinced her to grab a leash & walk the dog home to its owner(s).(interesting enough, spelled out clearly on the dog's tags and resides just a few houses down the road.Go figure. Finally, I was able to grill our dinner & we could eat, right? Wrong....Next thing I knowwe have three additional neighbor girls eating with us. So, my wife whipped up something easy (Mac & Cheese) for the kids to eat & we all sat down for dinner.
It is American Idol "Judgement" hight so I know what I wam doing between 8pm & 9pm (sandwhiched between three girs (one of which is actually my wife...she loves the drama , I guess?)
After I get a chance to wind down, watch a little sports center, return some e mails from the work day, I plan on reading a little & hitting the hey. Tomorrow is a travel/commute day for work (to Austin I go ALL DAY) so, it will be an early rise (4:30am), Bike for 90 minutes, see my wife off to work, take the kids to the bus & hit the road for Austin (3 hours). I plan on an evening run, swim, & core work out tomorrow (5/1).
Todays Workout Totals: Bike= 1 hour,45 minutes/Run=52 minutes/No Swim/No Lift.
Stay tuned marathonmaniac539 for my "CINCO DE MAYO" Work Out Challenge(s).....
God Bless & Good Night! "Cold Coffee".............
