2010 Paris-Nice official poster design

- The route for the 68th edition of Paris-Nice, the "Race to the Sun," was unveiled today in Versailles.  The race, March 7-14, will begin with an 8km individual time trial at Montfort-l'Amaury in the department of Yvelines, southwest of Paris.  The 2010 edition marks the first year of a 4-year agreement with the department.

Stage 4 will finish with a climb to Mende, finish town for Stage 12 of the 2010 Tour de France.  Stage 6 includes a climb of the col de Vence, a long descent and a short climb to the finish.  The final stage around Nice will include climbs of La Turbie and of course the Col d'Eze.  Alberto Contador (Astana), winner in 2007 and race leader in 2009 before bonking, will be the big favorite.

Stages:

March 7:  Prologue:  Montfort-l'Amaury (8 km)

CARE London to Paris Cycle Challenge (Le Jan 11, 2010 View URL

CARE's London to Paris Cycle Challenge is a 3 day, cross-country adventure. This challenge will see individuals cycle from London to Paris in 3 days, enjoying the idyllic countryside along the way. You will cycle through the tranquility of rural England to Portsmouth, where you will cross the channel by ferry to Ouistreham. The route then winds through peaceful vineyards and quaint villages, where you can sample the fine French cuisine before cycling to your final destination, Paris! After cycling an impressive 240 miles in 3 days, you'll enjoy an unrivalled sense of achievement on reaching Paris. Knowing you've helped raise much-needed funds to support CARE's work overseas will make your lap of honour around the aptly-named Arc du Triomphe truly significant. The minimum fundraising for this London to Paris cycling challenge is GBP1300. Cycling is one of the cheapest modes of transport for some of the people CARE supports overseas. Your GBP1300 could provide 16 CARE community coordinators in Uganda with a bicycle, enabling them to reach remote villages where they run vital savings and loans groups. These groups enable poor communities to lift themselves out of poverty. You'll be supported throughout your fundraising and training, as well as on the event itself by experienced guides. Those who register for this London to Paris Cycle Challenge can participate in the CARE London to Brighton Cycle Challenge with no fundraising as part of their training.

CARE's London to Brighton Cycle Challenge will take place on 10 April 2010. We will once again be taking to our bikes and cycling all 91 km from London to Brighton, and we want you to join us. The scenic route winds through idyllic country roads, avoiding main roads where possible. Cyclists will be separated into guide-led groups according to cycling abilities, ensuring this event is open to cycling enthusiasts and novices alike. Cyclists will congregate in the morning to cycle out of Kingston and passed the historic Hampton Court Palace. The route then winds through the Surrey countryside, undulates through the North Downs and into National Trust heritage land at Ranmore Common. After a picnic lunch provided en-route, the adventure continues as you cycle into Dorking and on through the country lanes of Sussex, deep into the beautiful Leonard's Forest. Following a final refreshment stop, you will complete the last leg of the cycle ride over the South Downs and up the renowned Devil's Dyke, which provides stunning views of the South Downs and Brighton. The day will culminate in a celebratory finish at Brighton pier followed by a well earned drinks reception. The minimum fundraising for this cycling event is GBP150 per participant (includes cost of participating, lunch and refreshments). Your GBP150 will help to fund some of CARE's work in over 70 countries around the world.
