It’s the inaugural annual event for the launch of Cycling Norfolk Island. It’s a fun filled week of cycling activities from coastal criterium to downhill sub tropic rainforest runs. Anywhere else it would be on road bikes, a la the Tour de France but our roads are not kind to road bikes so mountain bikes are mandatory. It’s a 170km of cycling track (albeit the island roads) where cows have the right of way! Its heart pounding mountain climbs to bring out your competitive spirit. Its soft leisurely rides and lazy breakfasts. It’s your next adventure. Where is Norfolk Island? Norfolk Island, 29 degrees South Pacific. North West of Sydney just over 2hours by plane lies ‘the World of Norfolk’. An island so diverse you’ll need more than a week of discovery. What’s so great about Norfolk Island? A tiny island rich in everything it offers. At 3km’s wide x 8 km’s long everything is yours in minutes, breathtaking scenery greets you at every turn; rugged coastlines, an azure lagoon, deserted beaches, rolling green hills littered with cows, sunsets that will set in your mind forever. Meander through National Parks with sub tropical rainforests boasting a bio diversity found nowhere else in the world. Discover a truly unique and proud culture that descends from the days of the bounty mutineers, where the locals speak their own pigeon English and you’ll find them in the phone book listed by nickname. Walk the history of one of harshest penal colonies in the new world where ruins remain remarkably intact. Enjoy soft eco adventure from kayaking open oceans to four wheel driving rugged countryside. There are a myriad of activities and events that fill the local calendar that you are always welcome to join. Enjoy your favourite sport in a new light, Norfolk has clubs from Archery to Yoga and everything in between. 2010-06-26 12:00 MTB 101 - Cancelled Jun 13, 2010 View URL

Image
The MTB 101 due to be held in Nowra in June 2010 has just (Friday 23rd April 2010) been announced as cancelled. Run for the first time in 2009 the event was based around the Nowra motocross track and was meant to have riders heading off on four 25km laps including a short section on the motocross track itself. In 2009 the planned 25km laps were cut short and riders instead tackled 7 laps of a course that was testing with long pump sections and energy sapping singletrack. With a high attrition rate an event like this only gathers in momentum however in 2010 it has been postponed. Race promoter Elite Energy has announced the following on their website. It is with regret we have to postpone the MTB101 / 50 / 25 for 2010. Our company is responsible for the production of some of the largest triathlon and multi-sport festivals in NSW and had decided to produce MTB Events on the beautiful South Coast of NSW. With this in mind we produced the inaugural MTB101 etc in 2009 with conflicting comments of the quality of the event. Our Team strives to offer the best experience we can for ever athlete (so we chatted to mountain bikers and listened) and we made some adjustments to the course and the set up and selected a date 26/27 June 2010, away from any major events. Since selecting this date, a NEW event was born on the South Coast, the Husky Enduro 100k’er. As with most quality MTB events (and especially in such beautiful locations), the Husky Enduro was a sell out. Unfortunately for the Team from Black Heart Events, the original date set down in February was one of the wettest weekends in history, ultimately having to postpone the event. The new date selected by the Team (20 June 2010) was unfortunately one week prior to our date, so with a sell out field of pre-entered expected riders travelling to the South Coast, we feel it may be a financial risk in progressing with our event. Also with a packed calendar of MTB Events in NSW, we felt it best to focus on delivering a quality event, bigger and better in 2011. Considering all of the above the event will now be moved to May / June 2011 (final date TBC).
