2010-09-18 2010 Dwellingup 100 MTB Class Sep 05, 2010 View URL

Image
Entries are now open for the 2010 Dwellingup 100 MTB Classic. The "West Australian Marathon Championships" is Western Australia's only nonstop 100km mountain bike race and is back on the 18th September 2010. So box up your trusty stead, head West and tackle the 100km either solo or with a mate in the new duo teams event. While the championship status may be great for those competing for outright honours, it won’t affect the majority of the riders. This is still “THE” Mountain Bike Event for anyone willing to throw a leg over their trusty Nobbied Steed. We are not resting on the fantastic feedback we had in 2009 either and are working hard to give you, the competitor, the value for money event and changes you have asked for. Some of the changes we have made for 2010 are;• There is a new duo team’s event, one rider doing the Southern 40 and the other rider does the Northern 60 km section• There is an all new “Forces Teams Challenge” where teams of 4 riders from any of the Police, Fire, Army, Navy etc compete for who is the best of the forces.• All finishers of the D40 km event will receive a finisher’s medal.• All finishers of the D14 km event will receive a finisher’s certificate.• The finishers T shirts sizes have been fixed from last year. Some small course alterations from 2009 are being made due to some logging in the area but these changes will only add to the excitement and atmosphere of the event. The course will still be as close to 100 km overall as we can make it. It will also be rideable, yet challenging and rewarding all at the same time. You may also see some big name Eastern States riders at the 2010 edition........................ Further information at www.dwellingup100.com.au (http://www.dwellingup100.com.au)

The Golden Triangle Epic has been rescheduled from the 5th September to later in 2010 due to factors out of our control. This decision has been made due to unprecedented rainfall in the area in the past weeks. Rain is also predicted for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the coming week, this further compounds the problems. Consultation has occurred between the event managers and landowners. The event venue is inaccessible by car, some of planned tracks and creek crossings are flooded. There are also Issues around rider safety and track and environmental damage which were taken into account, when making this decision. We want to apologise to riders for the inconvenience and will have the new date for the event in the coming week.
