Real Name: Darren Fortney
Gender: Male
Birthday: Dec 31, 1905
Age: 107
City: Madison
State: WI
About Me: I am a 40 year old male who has only learned to swim, bike, and run in
the past 3 years.   I was a big fat pile of usefulness pretty much all my
life.   At 6'2" 215 lbs, I decided to make a life change of sorts. I got
into working out after I had a back surgery that went terribly wrong in 2003
and left me with nerve damage, loss of feeling, and muscle weakness in my legs.
I had cancer in 1987 but that has not had any effect on me these days
(sorry I am not pulling the cancer card)......just gives me motivation and
tenacity to "bring an A-game" when I need to dig deep. After
my back surgery in 2003, I decided to get my act together and blaze my own path
in life.   Since then, I have done the following events.   On the
bottom of my email is my Mc Naughton race report.   By far, that is the
toughest thing I have EVER done.    Not even a close second place

Motivation: Doing more with less.......... There are plenty of people with more talent and ability, however talent and ability don't get you to the finish line by themselves.
Occupation: Urban Planner
Workout Routines / Fitness Tips: Every day........."A" game
Top Sports: Ironman and Ultras
Hobbies:

Travel, reading, yoga, meditation, music, live concerts, summer, and the Grateful Dead of course. I have seen them live over 15 times in 6 states!

Defining Moments: Ironman 2007 and PR 11:05.

I just left my mind behind and let my body be pushed to the outermost limits. Clear you mind and be "present".......yet get it out of the way so your body can do what you trained it to do.
