Moses Mosop (Kenya) Running technique
Moses Mosop (Kenya) Running technique
Moses Mosop 1985 is one of the fastest runners on the marathon. In 2011 he finished Boston in 2.03.06 sprinting up together with Geoffrey Mutai who became first in a WR. He owns the WR on 30K (1.26.47). In this same race he ran a WR on 25K. In this marathon in Rotterdam (2012) Moses didn't run his best race. He finished third in 2.05.02. The video footage is taken at the last quarter of the race (wasn't able to get a good shot of him earlier in the race). Although I believe he's not showing the best of his running (he would be better of landing half a foot length closer under the hip), it is still a very good watch! Mosop was one of the three Kenyan athletes selected for the coming up Olympic games in London, but unfortunately had to gave up his place because of an achilles injury. Perhaps he trained too hard and too much and took to little time to recover. He's said to be a real training beast which becomes clear in this short documentary made before the Rotterdam marathon; http://youtu.be/zfFDwOcMUXI. Enjoy! Jacky Ledeboer (Netherlands) BTW; For more interesting vids check; http://www.youtube.com/user/Thjeko. Natural Running Form
Natural Running Form
A few pointers on how to improve your running form by working with your body rather than against it. A lightweight, low-profile shoe is used to illustrate how a former heel-striker can land more midfoot with each stride. The ultimate goal of running more "naturally" is to reduce injury risk, improve your efficiency (running economy) and to enjoy running...more like your body was meant to!

How to Improve Your Running Form: The 5 Biggest Mistakes Beginning Marathoners Make
How to Improve Your Running Form: The 5 Biggest Mistakes Beginning Marathoners Make
Try our interactive lessons at http://www.curious.com/thebalancedrunner. http://www.balancedrunner.com Hi everyone! We're Jae Gruenke and Julia Pak from The Balanced Runner, and we specialize in helping runners improve their form and performance using the Feldenkrais Method. In today's video we're going to explore what it might be about your running form that's causing aches and pains and making it so tough to finish long runs. We'll give you the running form guidance we give our clients when they come to us for help with their marathon training. Every year in August so many people training for their first marathon come to us because they've developed pain and the early signs of injury as their mileage increases beyond what they're used to. If you're watching this, we bet you can relate. You're following the advice on running form you've read in books or magazines, or heard from your friend or maybe even a coach, and it doesn't help much if at all. There are a lot of possible reasons for this, but very often the cause is a few common running form mistakes. And they are: 1. Running upright -- there's a difference between slouching and leaning. We're not saying you should slouch, but when you run you have to lean forward, the amount you lean depends on your speed. 2. Overstriding -- landing with your foot in front of your hip joint rather than underneath. Changing your footstrike is a complicated issue -- both what part of your foot you land on and where your foot is relative to your hip joint -- because your feet land where they have to in order to keep you from falling over. So to change your footstrike you have to change what you do with your torso, arms, and head, and it's a change you should never try to force. We'll talk about how to do it more in a future video. 3. Heelstriking -- landing on your heels and rolling through to the balls of your toes. Make sure you're not trying to land on your heels -- ideally your landing should be on the middle of your foot or near the ball of your foot -- but also don't force yourself not to if it's what comes naturally. 4. Pulling your shoulders back and swinging your arms front-to-back. Running depends on a counter-rotation of the upper and lower body which generates power for running and reduces bouncing and impact. This counter-rotation makes your arms swing on a diagonal pathway, not front-to-back. This counter-rotation also means that one shoulder goes forward as the other goes back, so if you pull both shoulders back you'll reduce this important rotation and significantly increase your impact. 5. Tightening your core. The other half of this counter-rotation is movement of the pelvis, and if you grip your abs in a corset-like action you will restrict the movement and, again, significantly increase your impact and over-stress your legs. This is a classic cause of IT band problems, knee pain, and plantar fasciitis. So that's a brief explanation of each of these. Learning to run correctly is a process that can take awhile, but hopefully just knowing these key elements will help you begin to feel better. And most important of all, never run through pain! If your running hurts, start looking at how to change your form. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe for more running form tips!

The most inspiring video you will ever watch!
The most inspiring video you will ever watch!
*This is a repost of a video that a friend of mine made. He posted it to a car website to inspire the members there. I wanted others to see the video so that they too could be inspired. For all those wondering, Julia is still alive and Roger continues to run for her sake. So this isnt a video about sadness, it one of the human spirit and what it can accomplish.* In 2008, Roger set out on a quest to lose weight, get healthy and eventually run in the Boston Marathon. But not just for himself, for his niece who was born with Cystic Fibrosis. His goal was to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, along with raising money for research into the treatment and cure of this heartbreaking disease. This video highlights his incredible journey at age 47, from obesity to accomplished marathon runner. Roger is a humble man, and continues to run marathons to this day to raise money for CF research. He works tirelessly to spread the message that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to do. On November 6, 2011 Roger ran the New York City Marathon. It was his 12th marathon in the 2.5 years since he ran the 2009 Boston Marathon. If you would like to read more or donate to the CFF (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation), you can browse to www.rfme.org and read more about both Roger and CF. As a personal note, I watch this video constantly when I need some positive motivation. It is my desire and his that this video reaches as many people as possible. For those that need the help, and ultimately, those who can donate. We can find a cure for CF. This is a dreamed shared by everyone. Please pass this video along. Every penny I get from the viewing of this video, will be donated to the CFF. To watch Rogers other video, you can follow this link, where he discusses his journey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_qufoiKfgw ~Nuki

One of the most courageous things you will ever see on a running track ! In my opinion
One of the most courageous things you will ever see on a running track ! In my opinion
This video seems to be getting a lot of stick because I have chosen to use the word courageous, which in my opinion this is. Having been a pretty good track athlete myself and having served in the British Army on many active tours of duty and having donated a kidney to my younger brother, I think I have a pretty good Idea what courage is. Why do people get so offended and abusive over the use of the word courage? courage has many different meanings and even more applications. You do not have to be in life or death situation to display courage. I have never seen a race at this level where a runner has comeback to win after being overtaken in the home straight, it is almost impossible to do, your body and brain are screaming at you to give it up, you've done your best, your not fit enough, but this where the courage comes in, courage overules your brain, courage ignores the pain, courage finds more when there's no more to give! So in my opinion this is the most amazing display of courage on a TRACK!! i have ever seen, fortunately as you can see from the likes and dislikes that most people agree. To come on here and rant, rave, and swear at me over such an innocent video just makes those people look like the fools that they are !! Steve Jones is a British running legend and this is why !!!!

Powerful Inspirational true story...Don't give up!
Powerful Inspirational true story...Don't give up!
When you don't give up..You cannot fail!! I want to say a BIG thank you to 'everyone' who has commented on the inspiration that they've received from this video. When I put this video together I was following my heart to inspire 'Whoever' might be discouraged to... "Not Give Up!" However, I have received the most from this posting, Life has a strange way of supporting us in our time of need. I did not know when I posted this video that 'exactly a year to the day' my daughter would die in a tragic car accident and that my spirit would be fed from the countless strangers who have directly (or indirectly) motivated me to continue forward. May we all spread the message of hope "Don't Give Up"! Warmest wishes, Connie Lynne

Slow motion of foot landing in marathon
Slow motion of foot landing in marathon
In the discussion about running technique and whether you have to land on your heels (as most modern running shoes are designed for) or on your balls of your feet, there are people saying that elite marathon runners land on their heels as well. Well, you certainly would think so if you don't look carefully. This video shows that they are wrong and why this mistake is often made.

2006 Chicago Marathon - How NOT to end a race!
2006 Chicago Marathon - How NOT to end a race!
Robert Cheruiyot wins Chicago Marathon 10/22/06 with a time of 2:07:35 but slips at finish line - OUCH! 10/24/06 Update: CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Marathon winner Robert Cheruiyot left the hospital on Tuesday after spending two nights there with a mild concussion he sustained when he slipped at the finish line. The 28-year-old had sprinted away from fellow Kenyan Daniel Njenga during the final stretch of Sunday's race when he slipped backward and banged his head, causing internal and external bleeding. His momentum carried him across the line, making him the winner in two hours seven minutes 35 seconds. Cheruiyot, this year's Boston Marathon champion, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He had no recollection of what had happened immediately afterward and asked his coach if he had won. But his agent, Federico Rosa, said his client's memory is intact. There were decals with the marathon's logo at the finish line, but Rosa did not blame them for the fall. He suggested after the race and during a news conference on Monday that wet conditions, shoes and even just a lack of balance caused Cheruiyot to slip.
